Additional Links Information about Artistic Responses By phone:206-252-4339
| Students in room 7 will soon be participating in a Themed Literature Unit called Being a Good Friend. This unit will reinforce several important elements of friendship while teaching valuable literacy skills such as making inferences while reading, participating in small group discussions, and making text to self connections. We will learn several important concepts about friendship such as how a friend shows care for others’ feelings, helps those in need, and celebrates our differences while recognizing our similarities.
At the end of the unit, our class will complete an artistic response project called a story quilt. Once it is completed, our quilt will be displayed in our classroom. Families are encouraged to come and visit our class before or after school to see the quilt and all the hard work our students have done during this unit.Whether or not you can come see our Friendship Quilt, you can still enforce the concepts we will be learning in class by discussing them with your child and even reflecting on their practice in other books, such as your student’s nightly reading assignment.
On the left hand side, you can find links to this unit's learning targets and EALRs addressed, the list of books we will read, and the OSPI website for reading and communication expectations. Thank you for your support of this unit. I am very confident that it will be a great learning experience for our entire class!
