MESSAGE FROM THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR
Dear All Participants:
Welcome to the 2010 Alberta Youth Chess Championship. I am very happy to see an increase of players from 25 (last year in Edmonton) to 33. We have a few new players who havent particpated in any CFC-rated tournaments as well as provincial champions, expert-level and master-level players. I would like to wish everybody "good luck" and may the best player win!!

Due to my tight school schedule, I will not organize the tournament as professionally as the other ones that I had ran previously (i.e. Alberta Junior Chess Championship 2009 and University Battle of Alberta 2010). However, I will direct the tournament as professionally as possible. This will mean there will be no  formal opening and closing ceremonies. So, the event's schedule will follows:

Saturday, February 13th
AM
8:45-9:45 Signing in & Richard Wang's simul (9:45 am sign-in closes)
9:45-9:55 Pairings for round 1
9:55-10:00 Players will be assigned to a board, scoresheet pre-preparation (i.e. fill out your opponent's name, rating, etc)
10:00 Round 1 starts (Lunch will be announce 30 minutes after round 1 starts)
PM
2:00 Round 2 starts* (Dinner break will be announce 1 hour after round 2 starts)
6:30 Round 3 starts*
* May subject to change if players finish their game early. However, we will have 3 games finished by Saturday and NO MORE than that.

Pairings of Round 4 and prize-fund will be posted on this website by 2 AM.

Sunday, February 14th
AM
9:45-9:55 All players should arrive to the playing site.
9:55-10:00 Players will be assigned to a board, scoresheet pre-preparation (i.e. fill out your opponent's name, rating, etc)
10:00 Round 4 starts (This may be the last round for some age sections).
ASAP Round 5 starts
All games should be finished by 5:30 PM. Winner, runner-up (2nd place) and 2nd runner-up (3rd place) will be recieve their cheques and will give their address to the organizers (Calgary Junior Chess Club board). The CJCC will mail the trophies to the winners and runner-ups.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
I will assume all players are familiar with rules and regulations outlined in the CFC/FIDE handbook (i.e. Quickplay, touch-moves, etc). I will expect all players to record their games on carbon-scoresheet as eligible and accurate as possible. When the game is finshed, then one or both players raised their hand to summon the tournament director (that will be me!!) and we will record your score and you will hand in your scoresheet (with signature of both players!!). If you do not record your moves, then I might let the result stand. Thanks for your cooperation!!

Let's make this event successful. If you have any more questions, then please contact me or ask me before round 1.
