The True Life in God Prayer Group on the Gold Coast comes together three times every month at the home of Avo & Suzy, where our Lord Jesus Christ is manifesting Himself through miracles of all kinds at their altar, but also in the hearts of those who come and pray there and read and apply the True Life in God messages in their daily lives. Some of the miracles have been described here on this site, while others you will find here.

The prayer group consists of more than 25 nationalities from all Church denominations.

Vassula and the True Life in God messages

The True Life in God messages are conversations between our Lord and God Jesus Christ and a Greek Orthodox lady named Vassula Ryden. Vassula writes them down in notebooks that are numbered. She started to receive the messages from God in 1985, and continues to receive them to this day. They have been published in 13 volumes and translated into over 40 languages. The messages have been combed through by renowned theologians and no doctrinal errors whatsoever have been found. Rather, the messages support Church Teaching and deepen one's spiritual life. Those of us seeking sensation and messages of doom and gloom SHOULD LOOK ELSEWHERE!
Vassula has been invited to speak about and witness on the TLiG messages in over 63 countries at some 800 meetings. She dedicates much of her time to serving the Lord in the vineyard of True Life in God, and receives no remuneration or payments of any kind whatsoever for her efforts or from the sale of the books world-wide.

The TLiG messages spell out in great detail teachings on various spiritual topics, as well as certain desires from God Himself. As our Lord Himself has said in the messages, they are not only intended for Vassula herself, but for all of us who are ready to open our eyes and ears to see and hear what our Lord desires from us this day and age. The TLiG messages are for the benefit of the whole Church, based on

God is giving us the messages to strengthen the Church, His Church, His Body. The messages are there to bring us back to our senses and to intimacy with God. The messages are there to inspire us to return to the Sacraments of the Church and fill up all those empty seats in the Church. God wants to see His Church vibrant and full with the Spirit of God. He wants to see that we dedicate time to reading and understanding the Scriptures.

Church Unity - A Big Desire from God

The main theme that runs through the messages is CHURCH UNITY, the Unity of the Roman Catholic, the Eastern and Oriental Orthodox and the so-many Protestant Churches. God wants the three Churches to be in FULL COMMUNION with each other. In the messages He tells us exactly how the Churches can achieve this -> by two virtues:

 We Have The Bible! Why Do We Need The Messages?

To many of us the TLiG messages seem to be a revelation, a new revelation from God, simply because of the distance we have kept ourselves from God and the Church, resulting in total ignorance of everything that has to do with God. But the only true revelation from God will always remain the Holy Bible: the Holy Scriptures. So, why does God come in this form today dictating pages and pages of His Thoughts and Desires to a lay woman, who initially knew nothing about God or the Church? Don't we already have the Holy Scriptures, the Teachings and Traditions of the Church and the writings of the Saints? Why do we need the TLiG messages on top of "all" that???

To answer this question we ought to remain simple in thought and mind, because our Great and Loving God, although He fills all Creation, is a SIMPLE God; He is not a complicated God. To understand why God today is giving us the TLiG messages, we must first try to understand Who God actually is and project that into the situation of His Church and the world today!

Is He ...

• a mindless force in the universe? ...
• an imagination or clever contraption of our mind ...
• a force that doesn't care what happens to us?

 No!

God is a Loving Father 

He is a Loving God, Most Compassionate, full of Mercy and Understanding, Patient and slow to anger.
HE IS A FATHER, our Father, a loving Daddy, Who cares about our well being, both physical and spiritual. A good daddy, wouldn't he come to the rescue of his child when he sees his child drifting away from home into the terrors and dangers of the night? Likewise, our Good God today is approaching us with His Heart in His Hand, begging us to return to Him because we have drifted too far away from Him. We have forgotten Him. We do not include Him anymore in our conversations with our friends. We have locked Him out of our homes, from our dinner table, our workplaces, our communities, our schools, our governing bodies and our way of life.

ONLY A CARELESS FATHER WOULD SIT BACK
AND DO NOTHING!

Over 90% of baptised Christians do not attend Church, and if they do attend, then it is during Easter, Christmas, baptisms, weddings and funerals only. When over 90% of us chose to live a life without God and completely separated from Him, how then are we able on our own strength to apply with CONSTANCY (yes, with constancy) the basic principles of some of the human virtues of love, forgiveness, reconciliation within and between families and friends and the most dreaded word of today:

REPENTANCE?

TLiG is another Rescue Mission from God 

Should we be surprised that He is coming to us with yet

to save us from the terrors and dangers of the dark? He will keep on calling us until He can break through our deafness, however, always respecting our will, our free will, which He gave us for us to keep, and which He will never encroach upon without our permission and fiat. That is why one of the greatest things we can do for God is to surrender our will to Him, so that our will becomes His Will, because in His Will there is peace, not our kind of peace, but His kind of Peace.

The Messages are a REMINDER from God

Remember, God is not coming with something new, He has nothing sensational to tell us about, because everything has been said and done in the Holy Scriptures. His purpose today is to

of all the things that had been said and done in the Holy Scriptures, purely a REMINDER!
That's all; a Reminder, but what a Reminder!!! 
 

Reminder to Intimacy (to begin with)

The choice is ours now. God's messages are there printed in books. The only thing we need to do is to open the book and start reading the messages, so we can develop an INTIMACY with our God, an intimacy He so much desires from us, an intimacy between a father and his child, a mother and her child. Remember also, that God is not only a Father to us, He is also our Mother, our Brother, our Sister, our Lover, our Spouse, our Keeper, our Carer, our Nurse, our Healer and our Everything.

Are the TLiG messages of Divine origin?

Are the True Life in God messages from God? Or are they the brainwork of a Greek Orthodox woman?

Everyone is free to believe either way, but to seriously answer this question, one must look at the person Vassula herself and ask who she was before God approached her in 1985. The beginning is very important, and the beginning has everything to do with Vassula's spiritual situation before God approached her.

• Did she have any knowledge of Church teaching or organisation, and I mean not only with reference to the Greek Orthodox Church, but also the Roman Catholic and Protestant Churches.
• Did she ever receive instruction in basic catechism?
• Was she a person dedicated to her Church?
• Did she regularly go to Church? or did she only go to Church on special occasions like weddings, baptisms, funerals, Christmas and Easter?
• Did she have any knowledge that in this day and age God could come and communicate with a person as He had started to do with her?
• Did she have any prayer life at all? 
• Is she a woman who longs for attention or in possession of some personality disorder or mental aberration? 

The answer to all the above questions is "No".

So, how could she have written such deep and profound spiritual material, if it was without the help of God?

Am I looking at things too simplistic? Have I missed anything? Did I say anything wrong? Did I make wrong and false presumptions. Are all those bishops and priests who (silently) believe in the Divine origin of the messages wrong? Have they been biased? Did Satan throw a gauntlet over their eyes to blind and deceive them?

You be the judge. God has given us free will to choose, but before we express an opinion or make a judgement, let us be fair to ourselves and the Church that we have indeed looked at all issues from all angles.

Listen to the Prefect of the (CDF) Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith

Carping criticism and rash judgement on the person of Vassula herself or the True Life in God messages is not fair, uncharitable and not according to the basic laws of the Gospel which is love. There are some people out there who do just that, without they themselves knowing that they are being used by the deceiver to attack God's work to prevent the lost sheep from returning to the Holy Sacraments of Holy Mother Church. That is exactly what the messages do: they bring us back to the Sacrament of Repentance/Reconciliation and the Eucharist, regardless of how many times we fall and stumble on our way to our Lord and God Jesus the Christ, because we have shouted loud and clear that we are SINNERS prone to sin, with complete reliance on His Mercy to accept us back with our tears of repentance. We have made it clear to everyone that even our best work is "as dirty as rags" and that we continually fall short of His Glory, and that everyday we are living a life of the prodigal son, whose final destination is his Daddy's House.

Even in the Notification from the CDF there was no carping criticism or rash judgement. It was a well balanced document warning the faithful to be cautious. But some of us who oppose Vassula and her ministry, have gone to such great lengths as to adding our own "authoritative", inflexible and unbending interpretations to the Notification, virtually forming a "tail" to it and spreading it around on the internet.

There are some priests who have been unwilling to change or soften their stance even after they have been notified of the correspondence that took place between Cardinal Ratzinger (now Pope Benedict XVI) and Vassula.  I am mainly referring here to those priests who have made it their "habit" of spreading their anti-Vassula/TLiG articles on the internet, thinking that by doing that they are protecting the Church from heresy and doing the Church a favour.

If the Cardinal "has modified" the position of the Church with regard to Vassula and the messages,  what authority do these priests have to continue lashing out against Vassula and the messages? Aren't they supposed to learn from and follow what the Prefect of the CDF is saying?

One of these very priests when given a copy of the CDF booklet that contains the correspondence between the Cardinal and Vassula, REFUSED even to accept it because of the hardened position he had been taking against Vassula and the messages over recent years. He even refused to read how the Prefect of the CDF was handling the whole Vassula/TLiG situation and what the Prefect had to say to people like him.

• How brazen can one get!
  Where has our HUMILITY gone?
  Isn't this a form of anarchy?
  

Is this how we defend our faith and the Church: by being disobedient to the Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith?
We were obedient to him when he published the Notification against Vassula and TLiG, but chose to be disobedient and not follow his ways when he changed and softened his heart, because it did not suite us. It would have been too much of an embarassment to come out in the open and say:

Cardinal Ratzinger very gracious

Let us be gracious as Cardinal Ratzinger was, now Pope Benedict XVI, who gave Vassula a 2nd hearing and even wrote a letter back to some of the bishops who had expressed an unfavourable opinion towards TLiG.
How much more do we want the Church to do while Vassula is still alive and the messages continuing? I do not believe it can do more than what it already has done?
What the Cardinal already has done was most gracious and must be regarded as something exceptional and may I say: heroic?

To say that the Church has condemned the messages is GROSSLY INACCURATE. The Church HAS NEVER CONDEMNED the messages.
To wait for approval from the Church before even touching the messages, shows complete ignorance in how the Church deals with such matters.
