Step 2: The width of each sleeve should be about 1 1/4- 1 1/2 inches depending on how much seem allowance you want. And the width of the shirt should be 3 1/2 - 4 inches. Mark it with a pencil and cut on the lines... do the same to the other square. I use pencil to outline what I'm going to cut. This will be the shirt or abaya. 8 inches is the arm span, 6 inches is the length going to the doll's knees, but you can make it shorter or longer if you want. (Only make pencil marks on the ugly side! There's an ugly side and a pretty side to all fabrics so make sure when you mark or sew that the ugly side is the side you see because you flip it inside out when it's done so the pretty side shows.) Scissors tip: The best fabric cutting scissors are ones that have not cut paper. Cutting paper makes them dull faster.
