I was going to draw the force diagram, but the torque vector actually comes out of the screen. When you apply a force in a rotational motion, you get torque. Pushing or pulling on a wrench, while unscrewing a nut, creates torque. More torque means it's easier to unscrew that nut. Torque, ? is the product of the force, F, applied, and the length of the lever arm, r. So, if you have a really tight nut, and you're already applying as much force as you can, get a longer wrench to do the job. Another hot weekend across the country...
