Autism Services By Annie

"Prior to utilizing Annie's services, I felt like our approach to providing services to our child was very fragmented. Annie was able to pull everything together in a comprehensive package, and allow us to see the 'big picture' with our child and where his strengths/needs were."-mother of a 4 year old boy

"We now consider Annie to be a friend. She was great with our daughter and continues to answer any questions we have!" -mother of a 2 1/2 year old girl

"Annie has been invaluable to our family. I feel so fortunate to have her as a resource.  She is tremendously organized, a very credible professional, and very enjoyable to work with. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for services for their child."-mother of a 4 year old boy

"No one has assessed my child as thoroughly as Annie did." - mother of a 3 year old boy

Services

Using the principles of ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis), Verbal Behavior Methodology,
and over 11 years of experience to assess and assist children
 with varying degrees of Autism

Through my work as an Autism teacher, Public School Autism Interventionist and Behavior Analyst / Assessment Specialist, care provider and friend to families touched by Autism I've developed a mixture of ideas, techniques, and programs that work.  I provide these services:
  • ASSESSMENT:  I complete a thorough assessment called ABLLS (Assessment of Basic Language Learner Skills).  This assesses 25 different skill areas including communication, social interaction, academic readiness, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, play skills, and other important areas, appropriate for children ages 2 to 9 years of age. The assessment typically takes between 4 and 6 visits.  Recently, I have completed some training with the VB-MAPP as well, and may use this method based on the appropriateness for the child.  Based on this and using the principles of ABA, I write a lengthy summary of  the child's skills and weaknesses with a focus on communication and behavior intervention, as well as general goal recommendations, and share it with the family while answering any questions that may arise in a face-to-face meeting.
  • PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT:  Following the assessment, I develop an actual program families can use to work with their child, supplementing school and other therapy programs, including very specific goals and objectives.  These goals can also be used to assist families in giving input to IEP's and IFSP's (Individual Education Plans and Individual Family Service Plans).  Additionally, program development includes all written materials such as flashcards, written index cards to assist with teaching skills, setup of a data binder (if desired), and a template for individual progress notes the team can use with the child to track progress.
  • PROGRAM TRAINING:  Finally, I train families or staff they have employed to teach these skills using a variety of methods including ABA and verbal behavior methodology.  The training is based on Partington & Sundberg's book "Teaching Language to Children with Autism or Other Developmental Disabilities", my experience, and Verbal Behavior techniques.  I also train the individuals selected in ongoing data collection methods.
  • CONSULTATIONFollowing the initiation of a program, I also provide monthly or bi-monthly consultation services for program updates, additional trainings, and troubleshooting at an hourly rate.
