Supported Play

Some Games Require Two Adult Players

If your child does not understand how to play a game, it can be very helpful to have two adults as you teach the game--one to support your child and guide him or her in play and a second adult to be the Play Partner.  Here is an example of a child who would not be able to play this game alone but is able to participate more and more as his mother helps him understand what to do.  In this case, we have three adults but usually this is not necessary.  Don't hesitate to coach older siblings or cousins or helpful neighbor kids into the role of helper as you teach new games.
