About Me

                                            The Ann Dennis Story

Oh, where to begin.  I was born and raised in upstate New York.  I was the third of four children in my family and I had a wonderful childhood.  I began writing while in middle school - poems and short stories mostly, but then in high school my writing faded by the wayside. I was too busy playing sports and hanging out with my friends.  It wasn't until I was in my early thirties that I started back up again.  My first published book was of the history of my hometown.  I loved growing up in Marcellus and its rich history had always fascinated me.  I'm also a very nosy person by nature, so it was a perfect project for me to do.  I spent over 300 hours doing research and choosing pictures for the book.  I had so much fun doing it, I'm thinking about doing a sequel.

My husband, two children and I still live in upstate New York and before too long, we will be empty nesters.  My daughter is going off to school and my son just graduated, magna cum laude, and is looking to start his adult life.  I never thought I'd see this day, and to be totally honest, it makes me very sad.  Where all those years went to, I haven't a clue.  They are two of the most wonderful people I know and I am very proud of them, so I shall endeavor to enjoy their adult years as much as I did their "growing-up" years.

Our nine year old Golden Retriever, Luke, was just diagnosed with oral cancer.  He had surgery to remove part of the tumor, but because of its vascular nature, the vet was not able to remove all of it.  He's a real trooper and we've been truly blessed by having him be apart of our lives. He now also has been diagnosed with having a Mast Cell Carcinoma (stage IV) and given only a couple of months to live.  I'll keep you posted on his status as information comes available.

It has finally come to an end.  Luke passed away on Friday, September 26th. Ironically, it was the same day his namesake passed away.  Paul Newman's character, Cool Hand Luke, is who we registered Luke as at the AKC.  We will miss his amazing spirit and his gentle ways.  He was a wonderful friend and dear companion.  He will be in our hearts forever.
