Research in Bohemia (Czech Republic)
A letter was written to Josef Mohelnicky in the Czech Republic. His name was found in the phone book. At the time, it was unknown to me if he was related to Anton Mohelnitzky born in 1848.
Josef kindly replied to letters and sent several documents, including a will, and a "Mohelnitzky" crest. The name on the crest was spelled the same way Anton spelled his name! The crest said this Mohelnitzky family came from Niederschlesien (Province of Lower Silesia).Mohelnitzky Family Crest
The crest, written in German, says, "Wappen der Familie Mohelnitzky. Stammen urspr. aus Niederschlesien 1400."
