May 17th, 2012 Austin GTUG Meeting

February 16th, 2012 Austin GTUG meeting

Interested in volunteering at Google's SXSW event? Come to the next Austin GTUG meeting to hear about what we will be doing this year.  Volunteer for a two hour time slot and you can access the Google Village for the rest of the day. You can volunteer for one or both days. You will need to volunteer for two hours each day to get in on both days. Sign up here:


We will also have a presentation on using Google's Geo tools to make maps that work on desktop browsers, tablets, and phones. 

We will meet at GoLab Austin on 621 E. 6th street at 6:30pm.

December 6, 2011 Austin GTUG meeting

The next Austin GTUG Meeting will be held at Google's Austin Campus on Tuesday, December 6 from 6:00 to 7:30pm. We will be joined by the Austin Android User Group. 
There will be a talk by Mike Duffy about using NFC to get a phone to communicate with a laptop. Bring questions as well as friends.

Map Maker Event @ Google Office and Next Meeting

Mike Pav, VP of Engineering at Spanning Cloud Apps will host a technical discussion of the different parts of the Spanning business that touch Google.  This ranges from the obvious Google Domain for email, docs, ... to their use of the Google Document List APIs, Marketplace Billing, and Provisioning APIs that allow Spanning Backup to backup and restore content for all users within a domain.  Additionally, Spanning uses other Google services to run their business by integrating Google managed content into Salesforce.com and displaying operational metrics using Google's Charting API.


The I/O Extended meeting was on May 10th and 11th .

April 12th Meeting 

Our next meeting will be a co-meeting with the Austin Android User 
Group. We are teaming up so we can do a bit of cross-pollination and 
to share our speaker. Daniel Guermeur, co-author of Google App Engine 
Java and GWT Application Development, will be presenting on GWT and 
App Engine development. 

We will be meeting at Opal Divines on 6th street (http://goo.gl/maps/z2qt) from 7 to 9 pm on April 12th. 

Here is some more information about the talk: 

** Abstract 
Google Web Toolkit and Google App Engine are two incredible 
technologies that allow programmers to develop rich Ajax web apps and 
to scale them to 10 millions users without modifications. 

This talk introduces key features for both technologies and their 
implementation challenges. We'll also demo some concrete source code. 

If you are considering a cloud framework and a Ajax toolkit, you 
should attend to this talk. 

** About the author: 

Daniel Guermeur is the founder of Metadot Corporation 
-www.metadot.com, known for its open source content management system, 
Metadot Portal Server, Mojo Helpdesk – a ticket tracking app -  and 
its widely acclaimed mechanical keyboard Das Keyboard. Daniel is also 
the co-author of Google App Engine Java and GWT Application 
Development along with Amy Unruh.
