To all students/parents: Thank you for your interest in trying out for the Niles North Auroris Dance Company. The following information is to acquaint the students and parents with the Auroris Dance Company. Please read all the information PRIOR to try-outs. If you have any questions regarding the information provided please contact me before the tryout day. The Auroris season is from August-end of January, as well as a few practices throughout the rest of the year for various performances. Our performance is January 24-26, 2013. Practices will be 3 days a week, every week, and 1-2 weekends a month we will have a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday practice depending on the guest choreographer’s schedule. Practices will be from 3:30-6:00pm. Being on Auroris is a BIG commitment, but one that is very rewarding. Auroris is a wonderful opportunity to make new friends, improve technically, and above all, have fun! Students not only get to perform, but also choreograph their own pieces as well as work with dance professionals from around the area. Commitment to the company is very important. Students and parents, please discuss this level of commitment prior to tryouts. We look forward to seeing you throughout the week and hopefully in the future! Best of luck,

You have the option of auditioning for just the jazz/ballet/modern section of Auroris OR for just the hip-hop section. If you would like to be in both types of styles of dance for the show, then you should come to auditions all three days and learn both routines ( I would highly recommend auditioning for both sections to double your chances of making the company). Depending on your audition score, you might make the company for both sections (if you audition for both) or for one section or the other. For example, if you audition to be just in our hip-hop section of Auroris and you make it, then you will only be in our hip-hop numbers, finale, and a few special pieces. The same will be true for the jazz/ballet/modern section. However, if you make it for all types of dance styles (which means you come to auditions on both Tuesday and Wednesday), then you will have your choice in what types of dances you would like to perform in the show. Finally, if you are a specialist in pointe or tap, you can bring a 30 sec-1min routine with music (ON A CD OR IPOD) and audition to be a specialist in the company on Tues or Wednesday. Please bring proper dance shoes/attire to auditions. Auditions will be in the Dance Studio at Niles North High School.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR
Monday: Comfortable clothes. Please have your hair pulled back.
Tuesday and Wednesday: Comfortable clothing to move in—must be BLACK. Please bring jazz shoes and gym shoes if you have them. Hair pulled back. |
