Pack 131's Pinewood Derby for 2012 will be held on Saturday, January 21. The Pinewood Derby was first held in 1953, and went national in 1955. "This principle [trustworthy] from the Boy Scout Law applies to everyone. Honesty is the true measure of any human being. When you win the Pinewood Derby, do so honestly. Follow your local rules."

Rules followed by Pack 131Dimensions- Total length of the racer must not exceed 7".
- Width of the car (with wheels) must not exceed 2 3/4".
- Height of the car must not exceed 3".
- Wheels must be a minimum of 1 3/4" apart.
- Minimum of 3/8" clearance under the car.
- Car may not exceed 5oz. (141.5 grams). This is about the weight of 25 quarters.
- The scale and measuring tools used by the Pack at registration are considered official, even where they may disagree with other scales or measurements. We do our best to ensure that these tools are accurate, and this ensures that everyone has an equal chance.
Other rules- Wheel bearings and bushing are prohibited.
- The car shall not ride on springs.
- Only official Cub Scout Grand Prix Pinewood Derby wheels and axles are permitted.
- Only dry lubricant is permitted.
- Details, such as steering wheel and driver, are permissible as long as these details do not exceed the maximum length, width, and weight specifications.
- The car must be free-wheeling, with no starting devices.
- Each car must pass inspection by the official inspection committee before it may compete. If, at registration, a car does not pass inspection, the owner will be informed of the reason for failure and will be given time within the official weigh-in time period to make the adjustment. After approval, cars will retained by race officials until the end of the race.
- Scouts and their guest will be respectful of all the competitors.
