Constitution of: American University Club Field Hockey Adopted: September 2007 Last Updated: April 2009 ARTICLE 1 (Purpose) - To allow field hockey players to continue or begin their field hockey careers at the club level and to practice and compete against other club teams. ARTICLE 2 (Membership) - Any student, staff or faculty of American University who has filled out the required paperwork, insurance information, signed the American University Club Field Hockey Written Agreement and fulfilled financial obligations. Members are allowed to vote in officer and captain elections. ARTICLE 3 (Executive Board) - Officers must be a player in good standing according to the American University Club Field Hockey Written Agreement. Every officer is required to attend weekly executive board meetings and complete all executive tasks as stated on their respective duty lists, at minimum. They must review all information in the Club Sports Handbook, keep their binders updated and keep a record of all forms and receipts. The board will include the following officers:
ARTICLE 4 (Captains) - Co-Captains must be a player in good standing according to the American University Club Field Hockey Written Agreement. Captains are required to attend executive board meetings a minimum of once per month or on an as needed basis. ARTICLE 5 (Elections) - Executive officers will be self-nominated and elected by a majority vote of club members. Officers will hold their positions for a year and may be re-elected as many times as they run. If an officer quits, the president will take over their job until an election is held. In the case of no president, the line of succession is as follows: president, treasurer, fundraising/sponsorship chair, travel chair/referee coordinator, outreach/social chair, secretary and safety officer. Captains will be nominated or self-nominated and elected based on a majority vote of club members. Captains will hold their positions for a semester and may be re-elected as many times as they run. In the case of no captain, the alternate captain will take over until an election is held. The alternate captain is determined by the third highest vote. ARTICLE 6 (Ratification) - Constitution will be approved with a majority vote by team members. ARTICLE 7 (Amendments) - Can be proposed by any team member and must be approved by majority vote. |
