the living room is just about finished. everything is pretty much new-to-me. the couch is a 60's vintage sofa bed. the desk, chair and file drawers and tv cabinet are from ikea. i reinforced the top of the tv cabinet by custom cutting a wood topper - sanded and then painted it black. the giant white light coming from the corner of the room is a giant chinese paper lantern from pearl river mart. the white opaque glass tchockes by the tv are from local flea markets. i have to find ways to cover the walls without paint. there are a few ideas that i've been kicking around in my head, but since it involves putting nails and drywall screws into the walls...i'm a little cautious about just "going for it." i bought stacks of vintage records last week so i may put the album covers up in a fractured grid on the wall where the tv and cabinet are. also, i have a giant circular mirror i will put up on the wall to the right of the tv. i would also like to cover up the non-working electric baseboard heaters - they only take up one corner of the room. what should i put there? a giant potted plant? a small scale bamboo screen? wha? the bedroom is about to be finished as well, so i will post photos of that endeavor soon.
