posted 10 Dec 2009 11:57 by Anson Fong   [ updated 11 Dec 2009 10:05 ]

This is a experiment showing the oxidising abilities of Potassium Perchlorate, this is a slightly dangrous experiment so please be careful.

What you need:

*Potassium Chlorate or Perchlorate
* A gummy bear
* A heater
* A test tube holder or a clamp
* Safety Goggles

OK, this is how to do it.

Put in 1gram of Potassium Perchlorate or Chlorate into the test tube. Then put it in a clamp or a test tube holder and start heating the test tube until the solid has melted. Then drop the gummy bear in, if your using a test tube holder then move the test tube arms length away from you if it explodes!  This is a video I made of me doing the experiment
