A Decent netbook for $135.00? Coming soon! I am currently in negotiations with the ASUS Group of North America to secure buying rights to several ASUS 701SD Netbooks. The 701 series is a very nice little netbook. I personnaly have a very good friend who owns this exact same line of computer, an ASUS 900 and it has performed flawlessly for him. It is one of the few computers of my friends' which I have NOT had to repair! ASUS is sending me a model of the 701SD series to evaluate, and I will soon post my review of it here. My preliminary thoughts... This computer will run alright on Windowsw XP. BUT it will FLY using Ylmf OS Linux! Using this version of Linux, you will get: Linux compatibility- choose from the many thousands of Linux programs out there. Windows compatability- WINE (Windows Emulator) is built in, and so you may use most Windows apps, without owning a copy of Windows! THE REAL DEAL These computers are sold as "REFURBISHED" by ASUS. What this actually means, is that someone bought it, found that it wasn't exactly what they wanted, and sent it back to the factory for a refund. Kinda sad, but It happens. Most of these laptops have less than 10 hours of use on them! ASUS WIPED the storage drive, ran their factory tests on the system, replaced any and all faulty components, (Many of these systems sport BRAND NEW LED Backlit displays as well as BRAND NEW LCD Screens, and Keyboards!) and has now offerred them to you as official factory refurbished units, with a full ASUS 3 month Refurb Warranty! I have seen it... Essentialy, if ANYTHING goes wrong with this system during the waranty period, they will send you another one, free of charge. Period. NO Questions asked. A lot of people have no anti virus software installed because it either costs too much, it slows down their computer too much, or it has simply expired. I recommend that you give Security Essentials from Microsoft a look. This solution is free, never expires, doesn't slow down your computer, and it has detected and removed malware that was not detected by Norton or Mcafee! This is simply put, the most effective anti virus solution for Windows that I've come across yet. |
