In brief, this volume contains full English Translation of the eleven small books listed in the contents. Students of Astrology, amateurs and professionals, will come across a number of tips & unique methods of ascertaining the number of brothers, children, and date of marriage. Some of these constitute the Missing Links. The authors are confident that by following the various instructions contained in these books, accuracy of predictions could be considerably enhanced and made realistic. Gopala Ratnakara, Hora Anubhava Darpana and Jataka Chandrika are patterned somewhat on similar lines, while the contents differ and cover a wider field, a detailed reasoning is made in these books as to how far and in what manner, a natural malefic, becomes a benefic for certain ascendants and a natural benefic, becomes a malefic for certain ascendants. Jataka Chandrika, original by Venkatesa Daivagnya of Sarwartha Chintamani fame, contains more slokas when compared to the vernacular editions. The new method of approach given by the original commentator Sidhanti Shiv Shankar Sharma, regarding effects conferable by lords of 2 and 12, is very appealing. Hora Anubhava Darpana, a spicy book by Shiv Shankar Sharma, has a number of useful tips for the practising astrologers, tips from a professional and a very practical person. The learned astro suggests that the strength of Sun posited in Libra should be treated as a planet in enemy house & not as in debilitation as done for other planets. Apparently, he feels that the King of Planets does not cause much harm in debilitation. Mercury in Pisces is recommended to be treated in somewhat a similar fashion. There are a number of similar tips from the author. Bhaskara Bhava Deepika lists a number of Yogas not found in other texts - bhava-wise. A high class book on predictive astrology of the calibre of Sarwartha Chintamani and written by Bhaskara Acharya who has formulated his own Ayanamsa. Dasa Nirnaya explains the rationale behind the number of years of Maha Dasas and difference in Major Period Years in different Yugas (time frame). Udu Dasa Phala Padhati details the Major & Sub-period effects, in a cut and dry fashion. Graha Samaya Cheshta details the 27 cheshtas of planets and their application to Maha Dasas. Bhava Chandrika deals with Angaraka Dosha (Mangali) in detail. The translators have detailed the manner in which this evil manifests, how to calculate the evil sign-wise and bhava-wise. Jataka Yogavali is a unique and very useful book on Yogas. In a large number of Yogas, the age of an individual in which the Yoga Phala begins and within how many years thereafter, full effects will materialise, is indicated. Sarvajna Bhooshana and Kerala Sutras are two interesting books, useful for students and practising astrologers alike. These eleven books plus Acharya Vararuchi's Jataka Ashta Varga, Sarwartha Chintamani and a few others, bound together into one volume (size of half the modern Dictionary) was the only book of reference which a practising Sidhanti astrologer of Andhra Pradesh was using during the latter half of the 19th Century, came into our possession. These eleven books are from that collection. We are confident that the public will appreciate their usefulness and importance.
