Leigh Arino de la Rubia with the SEMAA program at Tennessee State University traveled to Las Cruces to meet with SEMAA teachers in New Mexico. The two day workshop introduced the New Mexico SEMAA teachers to the Astrobiology In Secondary Schools curriculum. High School teachers in the Las Cruces will be pilot testing the astrobiology lessons during the 2008-20o9 school year.
The Southern New Mexico Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Aerospace Academy
is a collaboration of NASA, New Mexico State University Colleges of
Education and Engineering, Gadsden Independent School District, Las
Cruces Public Schools, parents, and volunteers.
SNM SEMAA is designed to encourage normally underrepresented groups
into the fields of science, engineering, mathematics, and technology
through hands-on, inquiry based science activities.

the sessions teachers used activities from the Astrobiology In
Secondary Classroom curriculum currently underdevelopment by a team of
