Skin, Memory, Eyes, Joints I happened upon this discussion by chance and thought I would share my thoughts and experience of aspartame. I used to eat, drink, and chew everything that used it to replace sugar since it hit the market (1980's). I developed a very extreme case of palmar psoriasis at 46 years old (50 now). I had pretty much diagnosed myself but felt I needed a professional diagnosis so I went to a rheumatologist to get that. I don't like doctors for I feel they are more interested in medicating the symptoms than addressing the cause. His fix was to prescribe methatroxate, a cancer drug, for the rest of my life, with side effects out of this world. This would clear up my hands, but if I stopped using it, I would be in deep doodoo. I knew I was not going to do this, so I sought advice from a homeopathic doctor who did a non-invasive nervous system test. I can't remember the technical term for such test. Anyway, it proved to be aspartame poisoning. Other symptoms that I was unaware were connected were memory loss, suddenly bad eyesight, and joint pain. I was put on supplements that after two years have cleared up my left hand by 50 percent that was 100 percent affected. My right hand was 50 percent affected, and it cleared up 25 percent. He also told me to throw everything in my house away that contained this poison and to never eat, drink, or chew anything made with it. The test also revealed that I was developing a problem with Splenda, which I started using at home a year before. Now if I accidentally ingest aspartame, my hands flare up, turn beet red, itch, crack, and bleed. At this point I have to work on relief that can take weeks or months at a time. They have never totally recovered, and I had to quit work because they are so unpredictable. My advice to everyone is to research aspartame extensively. It makes you wonder why the FDA approved it. It makes you wonder why it's banned in Europe. P. Smith |
