What is HPV? The goal for the Rutgers ASME Chapter Human Powered Vehicle Project is to design and build an original alternative mode of transportation derived first from human power. Who can join? The team is open to people of all majors, but vehicle riders for the official competition can only be enrolled undergraduate mechanical engineering students at Rutgers. Each year consists of open design meetings where details of the vehicle are discussed and finalized. The design is placed on Computer Aided Design (CAD) software for structural strength analysis and simulations. The vehicle will then be built on campus using our own supplies and materials in the machine shop and our own workroom. Where do you get to compete? By the spring semester, the completed vehicle and team members will be entered in a national competition where different schools and organizations across the world come together to compete in different events such as sprint, drag, utility, and endurance races. |
