About ASME

What is ASME?

ASME is the acronym for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, a membership organization recognized globally for its leadership in providing the engineering community with technical content and a forum for information exchange. With a membership of more than 127,000 mechanical engineers and allied professionals from around the world, ASME serves this wide-ranging technical community through high-quality programs in continuing education, the development and maintenance of codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and various forms of outreach.

 

What does Rutgers ASME do?

The Rutgers division of ASME is dedicated to helping students obtain hands on practical engineering while keeping things fun an informative. ASME holds biweekly nightly meetings in the D-Wing of the Engineering building on Busch Campus. Many services are provided for students such as:

            Design Competitions

            Energy Plant Tours

            Guest Lecturers (Inside and Outside Rutgers)

 

In biweekly meetings students are informed of possible guest lecturers, tours, and any fun or exciting news in the world of engineering. The meetings are also a great place to show case your engineering knowledge and also your competitive side. With competitions being held at general meetings it is a great way to improve on design skills and also lets you win some cool prizes and meet some new people. Among competitions done this year: The Catapult Building, Egg Drop Competition, and Slide Design were of the most popular.

 

Who can join ASME?

Anyone can join ASME, we encourage all levels of Mechanical Engineering students to come check out the club at one of our general meetings.
