Image Plant Tour and Seminar on Metallurgical Failure Analysis in Manufacturing The ASME Ontario Section invites you to a plant tour of Steel Image, a metallurgical laboratory facility located in Flamborough, Ontario specializing in solution based failure analysis and material/process evaluations. The visit to Steel Image will consist of a seminar on metallurgical failure analysis and will be followed by a tour of the plant’s ASME/ASTM testing facilities.
For your inquries about the upcoming workshop, please email to mehtat2@asme.org Proposed Agenda: Seminar: Metallurgical Failure Analysis in manufacturing Product failures can result in costly events, poor product branding and loss of business. Determining the precise cause of component failure is critical to develop cost-effective solutions and containment strategies. The session will begin with a seminar to introduce the concepts used during metallurgical failure analysis. Case histories will be used to demonstrate material covered. Participants will better understand the methods applied during failure analysis and how to better utilize it within the manufacturing industry. Tour Following the talk, a tour of the metallurgical laboratory and demonstrations of the equipment will be provided. Attendees will be given the opportunity to use some of the equipment to examine component failures. Steel Image has the capability to perform the following material tests: Microstructural Assessment, Weld Evaluation, Grain Size (ASTM E112), Microhardness Survey (Vickers, 100-500gf load) and SEM Examination and EDS Analysis.
