Diwali, also known as "The Festival of Lights", is one of the most well-known festivals celebrated in India. The festival lasts 5 days, and celebrates the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. It is commonly celebrated with lights, fireworks, and sweets.

There will be henna artists, an Indian dance performance, and Indian food! And it's all FREE! Hope too see you there! :)

Eliot Chang is not what you expect.  His stand up comedy is honest, raw and never predictable.  Whether he is talking about surviving Harlem, leaving medical school, working on Wall St, or other stories from his surreal life, Eliot combines wit and manic energy to deliver an outrageous performance.  He tours America every year and has performed at over 400 colleges.  TV appearances include Comedy Central's "Premium Blend" and Spike TV's "Crash Test."

After the show Eliot will hold his Q&A workshop "Asians in the Media" where he will answer questions about his personal experiences and address diversity issues.

It's been awhile since the site has been updated, but this spring semester is going to be so great! We have a lot of fun programs coming up.

Before I go on, let me send a huge Thank You to the fall Exec Board! Our November history month went very well! Here's a quick recap on the end of the Fall semester programs!

NAASCon was the first weekend of November and many of us travelled to Chicago to participate in this national conference for Asian American students. (Image: Group shot in Chinatown.)

On November 9th, Loung Ung came and gave a powerful presentation on her life and the dangers of land mines around the world. In addition, before her lecture, Loung Ung had dinner with past and present members of the AAA Exec Board. (Image: Group shot after lecture)

Our Ten Year Anniversary Banquet also took place in November. Many of Capital's administrators showed their support for our organization. In addition, we honored the founder of the organization, welcomed back some of our past alumni, and celebrated the mission and accomplishments of AAA.

More pictures will be available soon in our Photos section! If you have any pictures, feel free to email them to us!

I'd like to welcome Subathra Thanabalan as our new Secretary. I'd also like to wish Geoff Lewis and Jaleh Sadravi luck this semester, as they study abroad in Japan and Spain. And speaking of this semester, take a look at our upcoming events! We have a lot planned for our Lunar New Year and our Awareness Week in March. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to contact any of our officers. Hope to see you at our upcoming meetings and events! And good luck to everybody on their Spring semester!
