Dear Parent or Guardian;

Beginning October 27, 2009 our school cafeteria will be computerized. This means that all record keeping related to our school’s food service will be maintained on a computer system. This is called a POS, or Point of Sale System.  We are writing to tell you what this means for you and your children.

Your children will be identified in the system using their school identification number and their name. The system will keep track of deposits into the account, maintain a balance record, and record all money spent on food purchases in the cafeteria.

The system will also keep track of special instructions and food allergies, and an alert will appear on the cashiers screen when your child checks through.  Please notify the cafeteria staff if your child has any food allergies or special dietary requirements.

You are encouraged to make deposits by check, or online using PayPal, but we still accept cash. 

If you receive free or reduced lunch the system keeps track of that as well, and the amount that you pay remains the same for you.

It will take a little time for everyone to get used to the system, but it will be a vast improvement, and much more convenient, than our current system.  Don’t worry; we will all work together to make sure that it works as smoothly as possible.

We are all very excited about this improvement in our ability to serve our community and look forward to the implementation of this system.   The transition should be smooth and uneventful, but remember, we are here if you need us.

When does it start? October 27, 2009

 What must I do? Set up an account at: www.Nutrikids.com with your Childs 4 digit I.D. #, The Link can be found on the Ashford School website.

 Where do I go online to get information about my account? @ www.Nutrikids.com

 How do I pay, or add money?  You can make payments online @ www.Nutrikids.com with a credit card, and your Childs I.D. #. Can also pay with a check, or cash sent to school with your child.

 How can I check my balance? By checking the www.Nutrikids.com site, or calling the Cafeteria for an account balance.

 What if my child looses or forgets his or her ID? Cafeteria staff has access to look up I.D. numbers and issue duplicate cards.

 What do I do if I have problems? Call Cafeteria Managers, Karen Samperi or Sue Kauffman at 860-429-6419 ext.360 during any school day.
