    gate valves
  • A valve with a sliding part that controls the extent of the aperture
  • (Gate valve) A valve with a circular-shaped closing element that fits securely over an opening through which water flows. A valve that utilizes a disc moving at a right angle to the flow to regulate the rate of flow. When a gate valve is fully opened, there is no obstruction to the flow.
  • (Gate valve) A gate valve, also known as a sluice valve, is a valve that opens by lifting a round or rectangular gate/wedge out of the path of the fluid.
  • (GATE VALVE) A two-way valve that may be opened or closed to block the flow of fluid in a passage. Normally manually operated, but may be automated, especially for larger sizes.

This is the "classical" off/on valve. It is sturdy and relatively economical. It should not be used for controlling a flow because it does not wear evenly. When you need it to shut off, it might not completely seal the flow if you have uneven wear.

Dave Voeller and Ish Shalom remove the Gate Valve assembly from the temporary setup. The Gate valve will be used to regulate flow to either the turbine or into the regular water system.
