Before heading back To hospital, tempted to Get my knives sharpened. I haven't wanted to post too many pics/videos about the birth of my son yet, as I'm currently in progress with an announcement of sorts, at least in between feedings/changings/errands/diapering/burping/ visitors/dog-walking/very-occasionally-eating. Haven't gotten to sleeping yet really. But this morning, before I went to pick up Jules and the baby, I saw this anachronism that made it easy to avoid a kid- related post... What is this knife-and-blade sharpening Mr. Softee truck? Is it performance art? A historian's idea of a good time after Thanksgiving? Do people actually hear this guy ring his bell and come running out with scissors? Is that even a good idea? We brought the baby home today after the craziness of Thanksgiving. We had 16 visitors over the course of the day, with a large bulk where there were maybe 15 of us in the house simultaneously for a stretch of hours. The baby got passed through many hands, and eventually experienced his first kiddish, and even wore his own little yarmulke that Jack bought him. It was very cozy. All in all, it was exhausting, but a really lovely day. And the day just keeps on going. Soon we're going to try to sleep when the baby does—what an innovative idea. I wonder why we didn't come up with it earlier. Wish us luck!
