I am offering a fresh pair of eyes to go over grant proposals before
you submit them, so you don't have to ask your friends and colleagues,
who are also buried with work, the 5th time!
By the time you near the submission stage of a proposal, it is
difficult to have the necessary distance and objectivity to assess a
proposal. I, like a reviewer, will see the proposal for the very
first time and can make a more objective assessment.
While I might not
be an expert in your field also a non-expert should be convinced of your proposal (and not be confused) and it is quite likely that the speaker for your proposal at panel will not be an expert of your field either.
This service is currently completely free of charge.
What does this service offer?
- My main focus is on readability, comprehension, congruency, a rough finance and spelling check, but NOT on the science of the proposal.
- I will give feedback within a week. If I cannot stick to this
deadline I will immediately tell you and we can agree on a later date
if that still suits you.
- I am promising to treat your proposal confidentially and I will not keep copies.
There is no such thing as a free lunch: Why do I do this?
I would like to gain more experience in research management after
more than 14 years in active research. This service would allow me to
keep my fingers in the pie while not falling short on my family
committments.
I have reviewed for the EPSRC and BBSRC, have taken part in an
EPSRC-mockpanel exercise and I have been a co-applicant for a
successful EPSRC-proposal. I have been a committee member of the AVA (Applied Vision Association) from 2004 till 2009 and I am now a co-opted executive committee member for conference management. Feel free to approach my colleagues on the committee.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Dr. Alexa I. Ruppertsberg
