Welcome to Arundel Middle Music!

We have moved to a blog format, so parents and students can subscribe to the RSS feed.  If you click on the "Subscribe to posts" link below, you can get the announcements sent to your blog reader.
 
Instrumental students should practice an average of thirty minutes a day, five days a week.  If you need help, here are a couple tips for effective practicing.
 
If you're having trouble reading music, try these lessons on reading treble clef and reading bass clef, both courtesy of Music Tech Teacher.  Then quiz yourself on the note trainer from MusicTheory.Net.  There are more lessons and quizzes on the Links page.

Announcements, 11/16/09

  A few "note"-able announcements...
 
Sunday, November 22nd, instrumental students will help fundraise with AIMA parents and students at the concession stand at Carroll Field.  Wear your best "hamburger-flippin'" clothes, put on your best "Would you like fries with that?" smile, and join us anytime between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm.
 
Continue practicing over Thanksgiving break, and give thanks for music!  School starts again on Monday, November 30th.
  
Thursday, December 3, 2009, at 7 p.m., at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 461 College Parkway in Arnold, World Artists Experiences will present Kinan Azmeh, an extraordinary Syrian clarinetist.  To learn more about Mr. Azmeh and hear a sample of his music, please click here.  For a Google™ map showing the location of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, please click hereWorld Artists Experiences is pleased to present this concert and Cultural Immersion Experiences.  As always, Ambassador Series concerts are provided to the community at no cost; however, your tax deductable contribution will be gratefully appreciated.

 

Eighth grade instrumental students take their BSO Side-by-Side trip on December 3rd.  Chaperones should arrive at school at 9:00 am.  Students and chaperones, bring a lunch! 

November practice sheets are on the instrumental files page, and are due December 4th. 

From our county music office: "The Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra and Concert Orchestra will present a KinderKonzert on Saturday,  Dec. 5th at 2PM in the Gymnasium at the Wiley H. Bates Middle School for the Performing and Visual Arts. This concert will feature selections by Faure, Elgar, & Anderson and is FREE to the public."
 
The instrumental winter concert has been scheduled for December 7th at 7 pm.  Musicians should plan on arriving at 6 or staying through the afternoon.
 
 All County Band and Orchestra audition excerpts are on this site.  Check out "All County Music" in the links on the left.  All county Band audition forms are due December 11th.
 
The choral winter concert is scheduled for December 14th at 7 pm.
