Jim was born and raised in Pentiction BC and now lives in Victoria. His art education was taking courses that were offered at the Victoria College of Art and by other artists, and then studying with Glenn Howarth.

He is a signature member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.  In the last eight years he has participated in 6 solo shows, 39 group or juried shows and 8 contests. His paintings are in private and corporate collections in Canada and the USA.

The works presented in the Artfitterz Gallery have been painted on site or en plain air. Jim enjoys painting on site where he can capture the ever changing but real colours and light of the world around him. You may often see him on the beach, a hill side, a farmer’s field or a city street, painting.
