Born in Vancouver B.C., Dan has worked in soft pastel since 1975, always painting from live models.....always `en plein air` when painting the landscape. Dan was coordinator of PSC2000, the first Pastel Society of Canada Exhibit in western Canada, and genial host of The Grand Prix `d Art, Qualicum Beach B.C. An avid conservationist and humanitarian, his work supports The Living Oceans Society, CHILD Foundation, CNIB 20/20 Foundation, Kelowna and White Rock Hospitals, Rotary and the White Rock and District 69 Arts Councils. Dan has been designated a Premier Pastellist of Canada and awarded the Silver Pastel Plate and Plaque of Distinction by the Pastel Society of Canada. His work has been published in numerous books and magazines, including Plein Air Magazine (US), December 2004; The Pastel Journal (US), October 2000 & 2004; Magazin’ Art (Montreal) 1996 & 2000; Pastel Artist International (Australia) 1999 & 2000; Harvest of Art, Wine, Food 1999; The Best of Canadian Pastels, The Pastel Society of Canada 1999; Investir Dans Les Oeuvres D’Art, 1989; and American Artist 1988. |
