Alvaro Sigales

Alvaro Sigales was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1959. From an early age, he was an admirer of several Uruguayan artists, among them Pedro Figari and Clarel Neme. As an adolescent, he was eager to study at art school, however the military dictatorship in his country shut down such establishments. After 15 years, this difficult period in his country came to an end and he began to study decorative art with emphasis on the expressive elements. After receiving the gift of an acrylic paint set a couple of years ago, he started to paint in his spare time, returning to his love of art. In this way, self-taught, he began to tell stories through his artwork.
