Porcelain Napkin Ring with Carbon Photograph of a Woman

We have collected ceramic objects decorated with carbon photographs for years but this is the first napkin ring I have ever seen. It has the shape of a finger ring but in a size to fit a giant. The photograph is 1 1/2 inches high and the diameter of the ring is about 2 inches. The sepia photograph is on a white ring with gold trim. The portrait is a woman with bottle curls in a rather coy, finger to the cheek pose. In my imagination I can see a Victorian family at their dinner table and before each of them is a napkin in a ring with their photograph on it.

Napkin Stack

Yesterday, I turned an old linen curtain into linen napkins and it occurred to me that they are the perfect size for wrapping a pint jar of homemade goodies. Today, I made more napkins thinking of birthdays and holidays ahead. I'm building a stack on the table and the next time I sit down to watch a movie, I'll clip the threads The napkins are a quick, easy project that allows me to use up odd pieces of fabric. I cut a stack of cocktail size napkins too.
