A preview of Leadership Conference 2009

Who
Alpha Rho Chi is the only national co‐ed professional‐social fraternity for architecture and the allied arts. The fundamentals of our mission and objectives include professionalism, mentorship, lifelong friendship, networking, and providing scholarship + awards for brothers and non‐brothers alike. At NJIT we installed the Domitian Chapter of APX in January of 2005, and compared to our founding Chapters, installed in 1914, we are much younger. We were granted the opportunity last Fall to host Leadership Conference 2009, and have spent the last several months planning to welcome brothers from over 22 chapters across the country to Newark and NJIT.

What
Leadership Conference, originally created for the Worthy Architects (presidents) of all the chapters, is intended to provide two days dedicated to workshops, seminars, and activities centered on promoting the fundamentals of our brotherhood. Not just exclusive to presidents anymore, it is now open to any member of active Chapters and Alumni Associations.

When
The conference this year will kick off on October 8th, with a lecture at the College of Architecture and Design featuring Brother Robert Ivy, Editor‐in‐Chief of Architectural Record. This event will be open to all members of the CoAD and the campus community at large, in addition to the brothers attending conference. The workshops and seminars for the brothers will be then held on the 9th and 10th.

Where
As hosts of Leadership Conference 2009, we are excited to show to all our brothers, who come from accredited schools from across the United States, our own architecture and design program at NJIT, as well as the City of Newark. All workshops and seminars will utilize the College of Architecture and Design building, all our food catered from local downtown businesses, and we will offer tours and evening events highlighting features such as Branch Brook Park and the Ironbound. All attendees will be staying at the Robert Treat Hotel, located at Military Park in downtown Newark.
