Theodor Seuss Geisel was an American writer and cartoonist, most widely known for his children's books written under his pen name, Dr. Seuss. He published over 60
children's books, which were often characterized by imaginative characters,
rhyme and frequent use of trisyllabic meter. His most notable books include the bestselling Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat, and One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish. Numerous adaptations of his work have been created, including eleven television specials, three feature films and a Broadway musical.
Audience: This is a resource that is aimed at the late elementary-middle school levels (grades4-7). Most of us have read one of Dr. Seuss' books at some point in our lives and we have come to love them and share his books with others. Dr. Seuss is well known, so this pathfinder can be used by anyone. Purpose: Dr. Seuss has written numerous children’s books that have become a big part of our society. Every March, we celebrate a month of Dr. Seuss. He was and is one of the greatest authors of all time and children love his books and characters. Not only are his books popular, but some of them have been turned into major motion pictures. This gives children a chance to see his books in an animated form and experience the characters in a “real” form. By viewing the materials presented in this pathfinder, you can understand and learn more about Dr. Seuss and his world. Keywords:
