CPSPThe College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan was established in mid-1962 with the objectives of maintaining high principles of medical profession, promotion of specialists' medical practice and arrangement of postgraduate medical training in hospitals. The College offers admission to the Fellowship of the College in 53 specialties/ sub-specialties and MCPS in 10 specialties. The College has now discontinued its Membership diploma program and replaced it with the Diploma of the College, DCPS, offering it in 14 specialties.
PMDCThe Pakistan Medical & Dental Council was first constituted in accordance with the recommendation of the Health Conference held at Lahore in November, 1947 by adopting the Indian Medical Council Act 1933 with a view to regulating the Medical Education in the country. In the beginning the members of the Council were nominated by the Federal Government in consultation with the Universities and the Provincial Governments. The original nomination of the council was for a period of four years. Thereafter an the recommendations of the Council an Act called the Pakistan Medical Council Act was enacted in 1951, which gave due representation to the various sectors of the Medical Profession like Medical Faculties of the Universities, Registered Medical Practitioners, Health Departments of the Provincial Governments, Ministry of Health of the Federal Government. | VEPCONGovernment of Pakistan has introduced a programme “Visits of Expatriate Pakistani Consultants for Short Duration Assignments in Pakistan (VEPCON)” under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). Under the programme, highly qualified expatriate Pakistanis are invited for short term assignments of two to twelve weeks for specific inputs in their areas of speciality on demand of various organizations in Pakistan.This programme facilitates the transfer of know how to premier scientific, technical, professional institutions and organizations through expatriate Pakistani consultants. This Programme is being operated by National Talent Pool, Ministry of Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis, Islamabad with the funds of Government of Pakistan. HECThe Higher Education Commission has been set up by the Government of Pakistan to facilitate the development of indigenous universities to be world-class centers of education, research and development. Through facilitating this process, the HEC intends to play its part in spearheading the building of a knowledge-based economy in Pakistan. |
