Oct. 25 - #3076 A search for a condo in Miami can be kind of discouraging. There are so many rental properties down there. So many also-rans, so many neglected, awkwardly placed units whose most prominent feature is its surprising lack of natural light, or its tragic, broken-down vertical blinds, or its very, very sad carpet. I flew down again for the weekend and met three different real estate agents. We looked and looked and looked all weekend. I scribbled notes on a scrap of paper. "Nice yard, broken screen door, weird closet, need repairs to the hole in the wall." Mr. Delicious and I actually have a decent budget for our home. With our combined income, we thought we could afford a decent unit. But we saw so many dumpy properties. Or beautiful houses that were situated right next to six-lane highways. None of them felt loved, til we found this one. 3076. Of course it was the last property we looked at, right before my flight left for Atlanta. It has just been renovated by the stunningly good looking couple who lives there. I usually don't gush over real estate, but this place is kind of great. Granite countertops and spiffy new stainless steel appliances and marble floors and waterfall showerheads and even a view of a lake in the backyard. I get to have a real room of my own downstairs (office / party central). This after years of living in sweet but snug studio apartments and effectively having an office in my bedroom. The master bedroom upstairs has a little balcony that looks out over the lake. I saw the light come into Jerry's eyes for the first time since we started the home search. A flurry of faxes later, we are waiting for final word that we have a place to live. 080:365 The little man and me
Day #80 of 365 Days Group Project 1/14/07 NO ideas for Sunday's 365. I was busy cooking. My washing machine is spewing water ... underneath I guess. Have to call the appliance repair guy. Great... Hoping to save it! BUT I HAVE LAUNDRY TO DO!!! UGH! This is Connor and me. He is my sweet little man. The kids were at their daddy's this weekend and it is always nice to have a few special minutes with them when they get home. Oh and Connor scored a goal on Saturday - of course I chose to stay in bed instead of going so OF COURSE he scored! :( Way to go, dude!
