Artist Statement:

Since childhood I have enjoyed creating images in paint, fiber  and clay. Prehistoric and indigenous arts provide inspiration, and oriental influences often find their way into my compositions. Natural symbols, such as the spiral, hold great power for me, because they speak a universal language. Stripping and layering of materials has become a metaphor for the overlapping of time and forms in space.

I am now exploring metal and stone sculpture. Although my pieces are constructed to survive for a long time, they are also meant to signify the fragile nature of our existence.
