Introduction

This document is presented as an answer to claims, insinuations or suggestions that science is at odds with religion. In my time discussing theology, atheism, and related subjects it has quite often been implied or outright claimed that there is some sort of intellectual advantage to being an atheist, despite the overwhelming empirical data to the contrary. I will address this very concisely here.

The Challenge

If you are of the opinion that science is at odds with religion, here is your challenge.

Identify one scientific fact that you have the luxury of that I, a religious person do not have.

• If your answer was evolution, then you have failed the challenge, as I am not opposed to evolution (in fact Catholic Evolutionary Biologists such as Kenneth R. Miller have made astounding progress in communicating the truths of biology).
