TODAY'S WORK:
 

Friday  20 November 2009

 

We discussed some errors we are commonly making in our essays.  Please correct for academic voice!

 

We then discussed chapters 1 – 6 of Frankenstein.  We received a set of questions.  We were assigned a group, either A or B.  The groups divided the questions.  Please answer them per the instructions.  We will discuss them AND TURN THEM IN on Tuesday.

 

For Tuesday, please read pages 10 – 26 and chapters 7 – 10.

We presented our brief research to put Frankenstein, Mary Shelley, and the Romantic/Gothic writers in context.

 

Turn in your next five Annotated Glossary cards.

 

Remember to finish chapter 6 for tomorrow.  Read through chapter 10 for Tuesday.

Wednesday  18 November 2009

 

Each pair of students was assigned a background topic centering on Frankenstein.  We had the opportunity to do research the topic.  Each pair will present their findings tomorrow.

 

We checked out the novel from the library.  Read through chapter 6 for Friday.

We wrote an in-class essay on Death of a Salesman.

 

The LAST day to re-take the Oedipus/Medea test is TOMORROW!

Monday  16 November 2009

 

We took notes on Gothic and Romantic genres in art and literature.  We also received our reading timeline for Frankenstein.  We will check out this novel on Wednesday, so be sure to bring your ID cards.

 

Turn in your book notes for Death of a Salesman.  We will write the in-class essay tomorrow!

We took a quiz over Death of a Salesman.

 

Then we discussed the different questions we wrote for “The Character of Tragedy.”  We marked the text of Arthur Miller’s “Tragedy and the Common Man.”  Develop three questions, one for each level.  Turn this in by Monday.

 

Book notes for Death of a Salesman are due Monday.  We will write an in-class essay on Monday.  Your next set of Annotated Glossary cards are due next week!

We discussed the end of Death of a Salesman.  There will be a quiz tomorrow.

 

We received a copy of Miller’s “Tragedy and the Common Man.”  For tomorrow, mark the text and generate three questions, one for each level of thinking.

We continued discussing Death of a Salesman.  We began reading through the end of the play.  Finish it for Thursday.  Choose ONE question from the list that was distributed and answer it FULLY AND THOUGHTFULLY in no less than a full page.  This is due on Thursday.

We discussed through the end of act one of Death of a Salesman.  For tomorrow, read through page 76.

We wrote three questions at different levels for “The Character of Tragedy.”  Turn these in.

 

We discussed the first part of act 1 of Death of a Salesman.  For Monday, read through page 51 and fully answer ONE question of the six that were distributed.
