EMA' s General Assembly, in September 2009, approved by large majority the APEO candidacy to the accomplishment of the III rd Conference of Education of the EMA.
In partnership with the European Midwives Association (EMA) the Portuguese Association of Nurses Midwives (APEO) will carry out the III rd EMA’ Conference of Education - The Education of Midwives in the Europe: Implications and Challenges, the 19 and 20 th of November 2010, at Hotel CS Madeira, Funchal - Madeira (poster). In the continuity of the previous European conferences held already in Sttocolm - 2004 and Berlin - 207, that congregated about 500 professionals, The III rd Conference will be a space for debate and reflection for midwives and midwifery educators, about questions that emerge from the practice of midwifery and from the Education of these professionals in the European context. This conference counts with international experts in the scope of the multiculturality, leadership and development of competences; regulation of the profession and standards in the education; Midwifery prescribing in the European context; Prenatal assistance in Europe provided by midwives, health profits related with the midwifery practice and situation in Portugal. It will be provided also workshops where the problems of midwifery practice and education in Europe will be discussed (themes). English is the official language of the event. The definitive program, that will have scientific idoneousness granted by the Scientific Commitee of the University of Madeira. will be divulgated nearly.
