45.7 degrees - Business as usual

People in Adelaide and Melbourne are experiencing a one-in-a-century heat wave. The last time there was a heat wave like this, with more than 6 days of >40 degrees was in 1908! 28-01-09 was the hottest day in 70 years with the mercury climbing to the top of 45.7 degrees. I took these shots in Rundle Mall, Adelaide at around 1 pm (temp was about 45 degrees) and my camera was as hot as an oven. An ND400 filter (9 stops reduction) was used to be able to shoot directly into the sun. Saw this woman when I was packing up my camera as it was burning hot. Couldn't resist from taking one more shot, with camera resting on a coffee table. Can't believe someone would sit in the 45 degree sun and use their laptop. She could hardly see the screen and the laptop could burn at anytime (my laptop's manual says the operational temperature should be between 5 and 35 degrees). Good luck to her anyway!

After record-breaking 80 degree weather, we had a snap back to reality today. Today topped out in the low 40s! No bother, it gave me one last chance to break out this heavy skirt and thicker tights. Bird Necklace: thrifted Blouse: J Crew Belt: Ralph Lauren Anne Klein vintage wool-skirt: thrifted for $4! Pin-stripe tights: Hue Chie Mihara Shoes: Nordstrom Rack Is it odd to be wearing a $4.00 skirt with $400 shoes? Hmm... I think this outfit is a merging of my two lifes. The former, where everything I purchased had to be brand name and brand new and my reincarnation, where I get off on the thrill of the hunt and the score of a great deal.
