- Cowhide leather that has been rubbed on the flesh side to give it a feel like that of suede
- Nubuck is top-grain cattle rawhide leather that has been sanded or buffed on the grain side, or outside, to give a slight nap of short protein fibers, producing a velvet-like surface. It is resistant to wear, and may be white or coloured.
- This is a term that has historically been associated with suede leather but is not a legal term. It is sometimes used for artificially produced forms of suede. If the price is exceptionally low, it is likely not real leather.
- This is a full aniline that has been sanded or buffed in order to create a nap. This is a top grain leather, therefore it is not considered a split or suede.
