About Me

I am a research student in the School of computing, at the Robert Gordon University (RGU), where I am also a member of the Knowledge-Based Systems (KBS) group.

My research interests are in applying machine learning techniques to ease the time and effort spent in email management. In particular, I am interested in Knowledge Discovery from Text (KDT).

My interest in this area started during a 10-week project at RGU, during summer 2004, where we investigated the usefulness of CBR for spam filtering. The successful outcome incited me to extend this project from a binary classification (HAM or SPAM) to a multi-class classification by creating a plug-in for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 able to automatically classify incoming emails into existing folders.

My PhD project is looking at a wider range of email management tasks such as time management, task management, information management, contact management and security.
