| Welcome to the ANU Environment Collective webpage
Getting involved in the Environment Collective (EC) is a great opportunity for you as an ANU student to learn how you can engage with environmental issues both on and off campus. It is also a useful support network for you to give something back to the environment and is a great way to meet other like-minded students in a fun, social atmosphere. What is the Environment Collective? The Environment Collective is an autonomous group within the ANU Students' Association (ANUSA) with the aim of promoting environmental awareness on campus. The Collective receives an annual budget allocation from ANUSA, although it manages its own budget, policy and affairs. The Environment Officer is elected in a general election of the Association. The Officer's role is to manage the affairs of the collective, convene meetings of the collective, and oversee implementation of environment collective policy. The Environment Officer also reports on behalf of the collective to ANUSA councils and represents the undergraduate student population on the ANU Environmental Management Planning Committee. Every undergraduate student is automatically a member of the Environment Collective, unless they submit their resignation to the ANUSA General Secretary. However membership does not require any payment and participation is always voluntary. ........................................................................................................................................... Why would I get involved in the Collective?
Many students have cried out their desire to ‘do something’. The Environment Collective is the perfect starting place for anybody who is interested in getting involved in some form. Whether you want to get involved in local campus initiatives or want to work towards achieving your view of the global greater good, the EC is the place for you! The EC is also a great opportunity for you to learn new skills, find support for your ideas and actions, and to make new friends. ........................................................................................................................................... How do I participate in the Collective?
We encourage anyone and everyone to come along and see what we’re all about. The EC seeks to remove any ‘alternative exclusivity’ environmental groups may sometimes portray. Environmental issues are issues that affect all people without regard for their gender, age, level of ability, social extraction, political beliefs and social and academic backgrounds. You don’t have to know a lot about environmental issues to care about giving something back to the planet, either. We value everyone’s ideas and suggestions equally. .......................................................................................................................................... How can I get involved?
