Hi, there! I am Xiang Chen, or    in Chinese. Currently I am in my last year of undergraduate study of Computer Science in Zhejiang University, one of China's "oldest and most prestigious " universities.

I am now a student intern in Microsoft Research Asia, working in the Media Computing Group, supervised by Dr. Bin Zhu. Currently I work on CAPTCHA project.

Also, I was one of the three students in Zhejiang University invited to ITCSC Winter School 2009, hosted by Prof. Chi-Chih Yao in the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

I joined the State Key Laboratory of Computer Aided Design and Computer Graphics at the end of my sophomore year. My supervisor is Prof. Qunsheng Peng. I worked on a project of facial image deformation, collaborating with Chinese Science and Technology Museum. Another research project was about interactively rendering 3D roadmaps in multi-style. The paper was submitted to Pacific Graphics 2009 but unfortunately we did not make it to the final.

Debate - 6th to 8th Day
10:44 AM 11/24/2009
In the weekly meeting, another research student argued with the mentor about his problem solution for nearly 1 hour.  It might be some waste of time given the fact that this was not a project meeting. However, I was impressed at how the two got so involved in the debate. In my recollection, there was hardly such energy existing in any group meeting I have participated. And I can see that through such debate, all your weaknesses would be exposed. To participate in such group meetings, you have to be well prepared in your work as well as your thoughts. And after the debate I am sure you would learn more than just working alone. It’s really tough debate but it really works.
