I’m neither a sceptic nor a believer. This can annoy both sides. Sceptics don’t believe me and believers think I’m sitting on the fence. This is not so. I accept that events happen, but I often disagree as to why. To me, belief in classic explanations of phenomena is not viable. The idea that a ghost is a spirit, or that we really do foresee the future, is nothing more than a belief. Although I wouldn’t condemn anyone for believing such things But to employ reason demands that we question. A sceptic questions and usually leaves it there, but this approach is too blind. I am in search of a middle ground between the classic explanations and sceptical denial. A SMALL STEP INTO THE DARKMy approach is simple. A belief is a giant leap into the darkness of knowledge, ignoring the baggage of existing ideas. I wish to take those ideas with me, taking just a small step into the dark. This is how rational knowledge works, and I’m sure it could also work for the paranormal. We must move forward in small steps. Where it will eventually lead, no one knows. Maybe it will lead to a reality for spirit, or maybe not. Psi-World will be regularly updated, so keep logging on. ANTHONY NORTH |
