I wanted a way in which to mark the
occasions of both mine and Debbie's 30th birthdays this
year and so have decided to take on a year long challenge!!!
I've always had a 'before i'm 30' list of things to do, including a physical challenge such as 'run a marathon' however I have never got round to ticking anything of that list!!! Now I am turning 30...i'm doing it!!!! Having been inspired by Colin I wanted to join him in supporting and raising money for Cancer Research UK Time, work and money make it difficult
to complete most challenges 'in situ' however Colin's solution is to complete
them in the gym over a period of time, for example, 365 days!
(Colin's website fully explains the concept of the 365Challenge, which he founded...please have a look and
who knows he may get you involved!!!) My Challenge:Over 365 days I will;
Why?I always wanted to run a marathon so why
not run 13? A friend of mine was looking for volunteers to join him in cycling LEJOG and as I regularly go spinning I thought why not put the training to good use??!! Swimming use to be a love of mine but over the years it is something I do less and less, generally now it is a dip in the pool on holiday! So this is a personal challenge to try and gain my interest back. Thought the the Dee was apt as i'm from Chester! Launch Date...12th October 2008
As I mentioned I wanted to do something in memory of my best friend Debbie who sadly lost her battle with Cancer in June 2006 aged just 27yrs. I therefore thought her 30th birthday a perfect date to launch my challenge. I was hoping to raise a total of £3,650 over the year however having exceeded this I am now looking to raise £10,000 and would be grateful for any support you can offer by sponsoring me. From today you will be able to do just that via the link below and all donations will be greatly received with many thanks. 1% of my original target would be £36.50... This equates to 10p a day... Are my efforts worth it????? Just a little something for you to think about!
Start Date...2nd November 2008Rather than let another year go by I decided that my 30th birthday would be a good day to get started. From the 2nd Nov you will be able to count the days left and click here to see my progress so far. Also if you wish to track my journey from Land's End to John O'Groats my fiance will be updating a blog daily at www.lejoggler.wordpress.com
What you can do...Cancer changes the lives of so many people that although this started out as a personal tribute from me to Debbie I would like my challenge to be in memory of everyone who has been affected. Please forward this website to anyone you know who would wish to; Remember Debbie, Support me, or Donate to Cancer Research UK for their own personal reasons. Thanks for your time.x
