Ann Semler Web Portfolio

    When I
began my course work at Emporia State University in June of 2006 I was asked at my admission interview what my passion was. I was not expecting the question and my immediate response was that I was passionate about marginalized populations. I was afraid that I had given a ridiculous answer because at that time I was not aware of terms like "under served populations" or concepts like "the digital divide".

If I were asked that question today the answer would be the same but I  would add that in the context of librarianship, that under served populations,  user centered service and the library as place are  areas that I am most passionate about.

Another topic of importance to me is the changing role and function of the library.  I am particularly interested in creatively exploring changes libraries need to make to remain relevant   I feel that my focus on adolescents in my work and in much of my course work gives me a unique vision of the future of libraries.

The purpose of this portfolio is to exhibit that I have achieved the stated outcomes of the SLIM program and to display my ability to be an outstanding information professional.
