I have been painting off and on all my life. But the demands of family life intervened and I painted irregularly until my retirement in 1996. My passion is the dramatic light and fascinating patterns and designs in the world around me, and I strive to bring these into my watercolors. I am often in Italy, where I lived for several years, and many of my paintings reflect the subtle colors of that country. Much of the inspiration for my work comes from the dramatic Driftless area below LaCrosse where I now live, the mighty Mississippi River nearby, and my seven grandchildren. I have put together five children’s art exhibitions, and their work which is often so free and colorful has suggested some new goals for me. I enjoy teaching children’s watercolor classes at the Viva Art Gallery (http://vivaviroqua.blogspot.com/) in Viroqua, WI, a cooperative where I am a juried member. I participate in the Driftless Area Art Fair in Soldiers Grove, WI where I have been awarded a number of purchase prizes, and where in 2007, a large work of mine was chosen as the featured auction piece. In addition, my work hangs in many local homes, some in Madison, WI, in several corporate buildings such as Organic Valley Headquarters in LaFarge WI, the Prairie du Chien Administration building in Prairie du Chien, WI and the Meriter Retirement Center gallery in Madison.
