Folklore tells us... in the time of The Revolution, banditos (including the likes of Pancho Villa) raided the village for silver and gold. Villagers sought refuge behind the walled property while men positioned their rifles in the gun holes (still gracing the north exterior wall) in defense. Residents desiring additional protection of their gold, buried it in hopes it never fall into the wrong hands. No one knows why, but the gold has never been found, thus never recovered from the property.
